The Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has lost his parents in the space of two of months.

The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has reacted to Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali having faced a devastating start to the new year after he announced the loss of his mother on January 1, 2025.

This tragic news follows closely on the heels of his father's death just two months prior, marking a profoundly sorrowful period for the young athlete.

Nwabali, who plays for Chippa United in South Africa, shared the heartbreaking news via his social media account, expressing his grief as reported by Pulse Sports Nigeria.

The loss of his father last year was particularly poignant as it occurred just hours after Nwabali had participated in a match against Benin Republic, where he bravely continued to play despite hearing the news of his demise.

His father passed away in November 2024 and two months later the Super Eagles goalkeeper became an orphan after his mother’s shock demise.

In response to this tragic news, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) extended their condolences to Nwabali through their social media channels.

Stanley Nwabali has described the death as the worst time of his life.

They wrote: “Our heartfelt condolences to Stanley Nwabali on the loss of his mother. Stay strong, Stanley. Sending you strength and support during this difficult time. You are not alone; we are all with you.”

As Nwabali navigates this challenging time, he joins other notable athletes like Victor Osimhen, who have also experienced the profound pain of losing both parents.
