Ahead of the release of a documentary exposing footballers for age fraud, Moukoko's father has allegedly implicated his own son with a shocking revelation.
Pulse Sports earlier reported Borussia Dortmun released a statement denouncing the alleged age fraud levelled against their player, Youssoufa Moukoko, by a man claiming to be his father.
The controversy escalated ahead of the release of a documentary titled ‘Tricks, Cheats, Deception - The Million Dollar Business with Football Talents' from German channel ProSieben.
A man named Joseph Moukoko, who claims to be the striker's father, alleged that the Dortmund forward is not 20 but 24 years old, ahead of the documentary which will be released this Sunday, December 15.
He further claimed to have helped falsify documents to secure a younger age for Youssoufa in order to boost his career prospects in European football.
In response to the growing media frenzy, Borussia Dortmund, via Sky Germany, moved swiftly to set the record straight.
They reiterated that Moukoko’s official documents were valid and aligned with both the German Football Association (DFB) and the club's records.
Dortmund highlighted that affidavits from Moukoko's biological parents confirm the information in the documents.
The statement read:
“These documents are still valid today and are the basis for playing authorizations and permits for clubs, regardless of whether they are domestic or foreign, and of course also for association teams such as the German U21 national team.
“Please also note that both the player and the biological parents identified in the above-mentioned documents have declared to us and, in the case of the parents, even to third parties through affidavits in the context of legal proceedings that the information contained in the aforementioned official documents is correct. This factual status is of course decisive for us, the DFB, and the player's current club."
Despite the allegations, Moukoko remains a talented footballer who continues to make headlines for both his potential and the controversy surrounding him.
