Ahead of the Zambia v Nigeria international friendly, Zambia U-20 men’s head coach, Chisi Mbewe, has named a 23-man squad.
Pulse Sports Nigeria reports that the friendly will take place at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja, on Saturday.
Zambia Name 23 players for Flying Eagles Friendly
The Cosafa champions have named 23 players for the friendlies in Abuja.
The Young Shipolopolo will play Senegal after Nigeria’s friendly and head to Dakar after the game.
After the two friendlies, Zambia will travel to Egypt for the commencement of the 2023 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations, which will start on February 19.
Zambia drawn in Group C alongside Tunisia, Benin, and Gambia.
Flying Eagles in Group A
Coach Ladan Boss's Flying Eagles are in Group A with host Egypt, Mozambique, and Senegal and will play their matches in Cairo.
The semifinalist teams in Egypt will all qualify for the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup in Indonesia from May 20th to June 11th.
25 Players to fly to Morocco
A 25-man Flying Eagles squad will fly to Morocco on February 8 to continue the team’s preparations for the championship.
Four players will be dropped from the team, according to team spokesman Sharif Abdallah, and 21 players will represent over 240 million Nigerians in Egypt.
The trimmed squad will undergo the mandatory medical tests before they leave for Morocco.
In Morocco, the Flying Eagles are scheduled to play a series of warm-up matches before they head out to Egypt four days before the big kick-off on February 19.
