On Saturday, a fan was injured as Gor Mahia's loss to Kenya Police sparked chaos, with Zico fleeing angry supporters.

Bad results are becoming a norm for Gor Mahia and the team’s fortunes continue to nosedive as tensions rise among its passionate fans.

On Saturday, the 21-time Kenyan champions faced yet another bitter defeat, losing 1-0 to Kenya Police FC at the Sportpesa Arena in Murang’a County.

The aftermath of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League clash turned chaotic with angry fans venting their frustration in dramatic fashion.

Alvin Mang’eni’s 68th-minute goal proved decisive, marking Gor Mahia’s third defeat of the season.

This loss followed a string of poor results, including defeats to Bandari FC (2-0) and Bidco United (1-0) earlier in the month.

The growing discontent among fans boiled over into a violent outburst after the final whistle. Stones were hurled, and both a Kenya Police player and one fan sustained injuries during the mayhem.

"The fans also demanded an explanation from the club’s chairman Ambrose Rachier," Nation reported, capturing the essence of the supporters’ disillusionment.

Fans chanted slogans against the team’s management, demanding immediate changes in the technical bench.

The tension has only escalated since the departure of Brazilian coach Leonardo Neiva last month.

After a five-month tenure marred by a string of poor performances, Neiva parted ways with the club on November 13.

His exit was expected to turn things around, but under acting coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno, the slide has continued.

Saturday’s incident marked the third consecutive time Otieno and his technical bench had to flee from angry supporters.

Fans had earlier demanded his resignation following a shock 1-0 defeat to Bidco United last weekend, and again after a disappointing 1-1 draw with the same team midweek.

This time, the stakes were higher, with Gor Mahia slipping to sixth place on the league table, sitting on 17 points after 12 matches.

Otieno and his players avoided direct confrontation with the fans by using the rear exit of the stadium to escape.

Many fans waited at the main entrance, hoping to air their grievances face-to-face with the beleaguered coach and his team. However, the discreet exit only added to the fans’ frustration.

“We are tired of excuses,” said one fan who declined to be named told Pulse Sports.

“We love Gor Mahia, but this technical bench is not helping the club. Zico must resign and the management should find a competent coach before it’s too late!”

The fans’ wrath was not just directed at Otieno.

Club chairman Ambrose Rachier has also come under fire for what supporters describe as poor decision-making and a lack of accountability in addressing the team’s struggles.

On the pitch, Gor Mahia showed flashes of their trademark attacking prowess but failed to convert opportunities into goals.

Kenya Police, on the other hand, displayed discipline and resilience, ultimately capitalizing on a defensive lapse by Gor Mahia to secure the crucial win.

Football analysts have pointed to a lack of tactical coherence and the psychological toll on players as key factors behind the team’s decline.

The supporters’ demands for a complete overhaul of the technical bench and fresh leadership reflect their desperation for a turnaround.

For Gor Mahia, it's more than just football—it’s a battle to restore pride, stability, and the trust of its passionate fanbase.

Whether the leadership heeds the fans’ call for change remains to be seen.
