Donald Trump has responded to Kamaru Usman's endorsement of his presidential campaign ahead of U.S Decides 2024.
Donald Trump, in the final days of his bid for re-election in the 2024 U.S. presidential race, took to social media to acknowledge support from an unlikely figure—Nigerian-American UFC star Kamaru Usman.
Known for his striking skills in the ring, Usman showed his political stance off the mat, publicly endorsing Trump on X (formerly Twitter).
Usman took to X formerly Twitter to post a photo of himself and the former president with a caption that read:
“Growing up Democrat and starting to understand the state of politics over the last few decades, I know how I want to live and how I want to raise my family @realDonaldTrump.”
Trump, clearly pleased with the endorsement, quoted Usman’s post and responded, “A great honor, from a great fighter. Thank you!”
Usman, a former UFC Welterweight Champion, is no stranger to battling fierce opponents, and his bold political declaration stirred reactions among fans and political spectators alike.
Trump’s praise for Usman comes at a time when the Republican candidate is doubling down on his efforts to gain support from minority communities, including African and immigrant groups.
Donald Trump and Kamala Harris conclude campaigns ahead of 2024 U.S Presidential Election D day
As the campaign clock ticks down, Trump held a rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan, a state that has historically swung between parties in elections.
During the rally, Trump acknowledged the importance of reaching out to Michigan’s Muslim and Arab communities, which have raised concerns over Democratic candidate Kamala Harris’s stance on the ongoing Gaza conflict.
Michigan, a critical swing state, is one of the regions where Trump hopes his message resonates with voters feeling uncertain about current Democratic positions on international issues.
While Trump seeks to energise his base, Vice President Kamala Harris is pushing her campaign hard in Pennsylvania, another crucial swing state.
Addressing supporters on the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Harris spoke on creating economic stability, focusing on affordable housing and childcare—key issues for middle and lower-income voters.
Warning her supporters that every vote counts in what is projected to be one of the closest races in U.S. history, Harris urged against complacency, stating as per Al Jazeera news, “This could be one of the closest races in history – every single vote matters.”
With Election Day around the corner, polls suggest a razor-thin margin between the candidates.
According to FiveThirtyEight, Harris leads slightly with 48.1% to Trump’s 46.8%.
