It was a sad Christmas for Endrick and his family following the 'targeted' killing of his sister's husband.
Tragedy struck Real Madrid striker Endrick's family on Christmas Day as Mauricio Nunes Goncalves, the brother of the partner of his older sister Lavinia Sudre, was brutally killed in a targeted attack.
According to reports, the 38-year-old was gunned down in a cold-blooded execution at a street bar in Samambaia, near the Brazilian capital of Brasilia, leaving his family and community in mourning.
Mauricio, described by local media as Endrick's brother-in-law, was ambushed in the early hours of Wednesday morning–Christmas Day.
Witnesses report he was shot multiple times in the head while attempting to escape the assailant, who struck without any apparent provocation.
The horrific incident has devastated Endrick's family, with Lavinia Sudre, Endrick’s older sister, changing her Instagram profile picture to a black ribbon in tribute.
Daily Mail reports she also shared a heartfelt post of Mauricio’s picture, writing: “You left beautiful memories in our hearts that we will never forget.”
Authorities confirmed the funeral was scheduled for Thursday afternoon, though investigations into the motive and identity of the gunman continue.
No arrests have been made as of yet.
Endrick’s silence amid Real Madrid challenge
The 18-year-old football prodigy, who joined Real Madrid this summer from Palmeiras in a deal worth up to £60 million, has yet to comment publicly on the tragedy.
Endrick has also been navigating challenges on and off the pitch.
He recently celebrated his wife Gabriely Miranda on her 22nd birthday, months after the pair made a surprise announcement of their wedding.
Endrick and his model wife had sparked controversy after they revealed they signed an unusual 'dating contract' months after they started dating in 2023.
With limited playing time at Real Madrid, rumours swirl of a potential loan move to Real Betis as he looks to secure more minutes and fulfil his immense potential.
