Speaking exclusively to Hola! Magazine, Joana described her overwhelming emotions following the news that Alves’ sexual assault conviction had been overturned.
“I always believed in his innocence, and that’s why I’ve always remained by his side,” the 30-year-old told the outlet, reflecting on the emotional turmoil of the past months.

After enduring immense media scrutiny, Sanz shared how difficult the past year had been, particularly following the loss of her mother.
“The media pressure has been very harsh. Everything became frantic, and I feel like my time to grieve wasn’t respected. My career was my lifeline amidst so much suffering, but I also felt forced to keep smiling a year after the storm,” she admitted.
However, despite the heartbreak and public attacks, Joana is embracing this fresh chapter in her life, describing it as one filled with “tears of joy and relief.”

While the world assumed their marriage was over, Joana now reveals that her decision to file for divorce was never final.
“It was never a firm idea. I wanted to have a conversation with him before making any final decision. As soon as I saw him, during the first visit, that idea of wanting to break up disappeared and transformed into wanting to fight to heal.”

She believes that the ordeal has strengthened their bond, forcing them to confront previous relationship struggles.
“We had many previous differences that we weren’t aware of. A lot of individualism and a lack of communication within the relationship. Now, all of that has transformed into what we are today.”

As for their unborn daughter, Joana revealed that Alves was overwhelmed with emotion when she shared the pregnancy news.
“Dani had faith that it would be her final pregnancy from the very beginning. When I told him, he couldn’t stop crying all afternoon. He just thanked God.”
Having battled through years of fertility struggles, the couple is now looking ahead to their future as parents for the first time.
Joana reflected on the difficulties they faced, admitting that their demanding careers often kept them apart.

“Dani was playing in Brazil, I was working a lot in Europe… We spent two or three months apart. I love my job and my independence, and I couldn’t imagine leaving everything behind to follow his dream… I also have my own professional dreams.”
