Ahead of Nigeria's AFCON 2025 qualifying match against Libya.
Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong, has revealed Odumodublvck is his current favorite Afrobeats artist, edging out Grammy Award-winning superstar Burna Boy.
The 31-year-old Nigeria international, who joined Saudi Arabian side Al-Kholood this summer from Greek club PAOK, made the disclosure during a media Q&A session in camp.
The AFCON 2023 MVP told Making of Champions:
“I mostly listen to Odumodublvck at the moment, before that it was Burna Boy.”
Ekong has expressed his admiration for Odumodublvck, the Abuja-based rapper known for his hit song "Declan Rice."
The pair are known to be close buddies off the pitch and have been spotted together at some events, including Troost-Ekong's charity football match earlier this year.
The Super Eagles skipper, who also runs a management company called BFA Sports, has been actively supporting Nigerian artists and creatives.
Ekong’s endorsement of 'Big Kala' adds another layer to the rapper’s growing prominence in the Nigerian music scene.
Nigeria vs Libya: Super Eagles prepare for AFCON 2025 qualifying showdown in Uyo
Troost-Ekong is expected lead Nigeria in their first-leg AFCON 2025 qualifier against Libya.
The match is set for Friday, October 11, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
The Super Eagles, who currently sit atop their group with four points from two matches, will look to extend their lead with a win against Libya.
A victory would boost Nigeria’s tally to 10 points, putting them in a strong position to qualify for the tournament.
The Super Eagles will be without star striker Victor Osimhen who has been ruled out with injury.
Meanwhile, defender Bright Osayi-Samuel and forwards Kelechi Iheanacho and Chidera Ejuke have all arrived at the 23-man camp to join their teammates for final preparations.
The second leg of the qualifier is scheduled for Wednesday, October 16, at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium in Benghazi, Libya.
