Alex Iwobi has opened up on his life outside of football.
Super Eagles star, Alex Iwobi, has revealed that he has been passionate about music for a long time, dating back to when he was just 14 years old.
In a recent interview with The Cable, the 28-year-old Fulham midfielder opened up about his little-known musical side, which he has only recently started to showcase publicly.
"It’s only recently that I started showcasing that I like music, but I’ve been doing music since the age of 14," Iwobi said.
The former Arsenal star went on to explain that, while it might come as a surprise to many, he has been involved in creating music for years but chose to keep it private until now.
Iwobi hinted that he has several unreleased tracks that he plans to release in the future, noting that the timing will depend on when his media team feels it's appropriate.
So far in his journey, Iwobi has who goes by the stage name '17' has already released a track this year, “Don't Shoot,” which features fellow footballers Chuba Akpom and Medy Elito.
Before then, he also released his debut single ‘Hate on me’ about a year ago.
The song features Aston Villa midfielder Amadou Onana. who goes by the stage name ‘24AM’
Ahead of the Super Eagles’ AFCON 2025 qualifying fixture against Libya in Uyo, Iwobi also revealed his favourite female Afrobeats artistes.
In an interview with Making of Champions, Iwobi emphasized that multi-award-winning songstress Tems is his favourite female Afrobeats artiste right now, before going ahead to name popular acts like Tiwa Savage, Ayra Starr, Simi, and Yemi Alade.
AFCON 2025Q: Super Eagles prepare for crucial Libya showdown
Iwobi is expected to play an important role ahead in Nigeria’s 2025 AFCON qualifying campaign.
The Super Eagles are set to face Libya in the first leg of their qualifier on Friday, October 11, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo. Nigeria, currently at the top of their group with four points from two matches, will be looking to secure another win to strengthen their chances of qualifying.
Despite the absence of star striker Victor Osimhen, who is sidelined due to injury, the Super Eagles will rely on Victor Boniface to lead the attack in tomorrow’s fixture.
