Cody Gakpo, the 24-year-old Liverpool forward, finds himself in the eye of a storm following accusations of neglect and absenteeism as a landlord.
Since his move to Anfield from PSV in January 2023, Gakpo has netted 21 goals in 74 appearances, establishing himself as a key figure for both his club and the Netherlands national team.
Gakpo's real estate ventures in the south of Holland have come under scrutiny, with reports from Dutch regional newspaper De Limburger detailing tenant grievances across properties in Rotterdam, Dordrecht, Roermond, Weert, and Geleen.
The footballer, listed as the sole shareholder of his company Samaritan, reportedly owns several properties in these cities.

Liverpool legend Fernando Torres loses dad, receives support following father's passing
Former Liverpool FC striker Fernando Torres recently shared a post on social media about losing his dad.
Tenant Complaints and Allegations
According to The Mirror, occupants have voiced concerns about the state of their residences, alleging uninhabitable conditions, structural issues, vermin infestations, and subpar maintenance.
Moreover, Gakpo's letting agent purportedly charges rents above market rates despite these glaring problems.
For instance, a damp and mould-infested flat is listed at € 875 a month (£754), while another, with space constraints requiring tenants to enter sideways, is priced at € 850 a month (£733) - notably higher than the average local rent of €560 (£500).
Stefan Stals, representing Elevate Finance and managing Gakpo's properties, refuted some claims while acknowledging others.
Residents shared harrowing experiences, with one reporting a rat falling into their living room and another expressing fear due to gnawing marks on their sofa.
Despite legal letters from tenants urging improvements, Elevate Finance has allegedly not responded, exacerbating the dire situation.
When contacted, neither Liverpool FC nor Gakpo's football agent, Kees Ploegsma, provided comments on the matter.
While the Reds consider it a personal affair for their player, Ploegsma shifted responsibility to the management company handling Gakpo's properties.
