The iconic collaboration is now officially over after 2 years of an epic legal battle.
After two years of legal disputes, Adidas and rapper Ye (formerly Kanye West) have officially settled their issues outside of court.
The announcement, made on Tuesday, has confirmed that the settlement does not involve any monetary compensation for either party.
Pulse Sports earlier reported the German sportswear giant severed ties with Ye in 2022 after he made antisemitic comments, leading to a series of lawsuits between both sides.
Adidas also saw their shares dip massively following their split from the controversial rapper.
Now, both Adidas and Ye seem prepared to put their past disputes behind them.
“There isn’t any more open issues, and there is no... money going either way, and we both move on,” Adidas CEO Bjorn Gulden shared in a press conference call as per Reuters, refusing to dive into further specifics on the terms of the settlement.
Adidas wipe slate clean with Yeezy sales
In the aftermath of their separation, Adidas found itself holding substantial Yeezy inventory, which it began selling in 2023 to clear stock.
The decision paid off—its first sale of remaining Yeezy products brought in an estimated $437 million.
Adidas allocated a portion of these proceeds to charity, benefiting organisations such as the Anti-Defamation League and a non-profit established by George Floyd’s brother, solidifying its commitment to social responsibility.
Reflecting on the tense journey, Gulden highlighted the need to move forward.
“There were tensions on many issues, and... when you put the claims on the right side and you put the claims on the left side, both parties said we don’t need to fight anymore and withdrew all the claims,” he explained.
As Adidas closes the Yeezy chapter, both the brand and Ye are poised to embark on new directions even though the iconic partnership that once redefined streetwear culture is now no more.
