“There were times when he would get a little down, even a moment in high school when he wanted to quit football. Yes, he did,” Randi confessed candidly to her followers as per Marca.
She described how a young Patrick briefly lost his spark, frustrated enough to consider walking away from the game altogether.
But like any strong and supportive parent, Randi stepped in to offer some gentle but powerful encouragement.
“I encouraged him that sitting out a season of sports and watching the games, it was not going to be fun for him. And so, he stuck to it, fortunately,” she added.
And it seems her words were the difference between a fleeting talent and a generational legend.

Today, Mahomes stands tall as one of the most decorated players in NFL history, and he’s not even 30.
Since being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the first round and earning the starting quarterback role in his second season, he has transformed into a true phenom in the NFL.
In just seven seasons, Mahomes has led the Chiefs to five Super Bowl appearances, securing the championship in three of them.
He’s also maintained an unbroken streak of appearances in the AFC Championship Game every year he’s been the starting QB.
