Awoniyi finding love
Taiwo Awoniyi was asked in an interview with Oma Akatugba as shared on X, how he met his wife and how long were they together before he got married
Reflecting on his past, during his secondary school day, Awoniyi said, "When we were in secondary school, I'm not the type that I ask girls out because there is this poverty in you that will not even give you the boldness to say hi to a lady." Despite his reservations, fate had its way of bringing them together.
He recounted, "So that was the situation I found myself and this time there is this girl in the class that time that every time she brings food, I just find myself taking her food."
"I would take it with arrogance like if you will go and report me, go and report, you will go and buy puff, puff or something, I would snatch it and go my way," he added.
Awoniyi's courage to express his feeling
Awoniyi revealed the pivotal moment when he decided to express his feelings. "I think it was when, after I came back from the tournament I went to in London because then we left school already. That was actually when I did," he shared.
However, the response he received was unexpected yet heartening. "Then you know what shocked me, she told me on the chat that and so, who cares, then I was like, do you know where they call it? she was like, who cares? I heard you went to London."
Despite the challenges, their connection endured beyond their school days. "But it was after our secondary school days, we met again, then we started talking again.
And then I was like, you remember when I was in school, all those things I was doing, it is just that I don't have the boldness," Awoniyi revealed.
Their friendship flourished, and Awoniyi was certain of one thing: "And so we started the friendship again and I already know in my mind that she's going to be my wife."
