A Premier League footballer remains the subject of investigation over allegations of rape.

A prominent Premier League footballer is making headlines again after being questioned by police over allegations of sexual offences involving three women.

The player, who remains unnamed for legal reasons, was interviewed last Thursday under caution.

The man, reportedly in his 30s and based in London, was first arrested in July 2022 at a West London address on suspicion of rape.

The accusations have since expanded, with alleged offences spanning from 2021 to 2023.

Despite the gravity of the claims, the international footballer has continued to feature for his club throughout the ongoing investigation.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said as per Daily Mail:

“Met officers are investigating following a number of reports of alleged sexual offences between 2021 and 2023. A man in his 30s was arrested in July 2022 and has been interviewed by police on two further occasions under caution.”

Rape allegations span multiple incidents over 2 years

Daily Mail’s report revealed that the investigation includes allegations of rape involving two women and a separate sexual offence against a third.

The timeline of accusations suggests a troubling pattern, with one alleged incident occurring in April 2021 and another in February 2022.

However, authorities have confirmed no further action will be taken regarding an alleged offence in June 2021, citing the non-applicability of relevant legislation at the time.

The investigation, described by police as "in-depth and detailed," is still active.

Meanwhile, the women who reported the offences are said to be receiving support from the Met’s specialist officers.

Fans and pundits are closely watching the case, as the Premier League and the player’s club face mounting questions over his continued participation in matches.
