The Brazilian icon is reportedly sleeping in the training ground amid the legal battle for his mouth-watering fortune.
Football icon Roberto Carlos, famed for his thunderous free kicks and legendary stint at Real Madrid, finds himself in a serious legal battle following a bitter divorce from his wife of over 15 years, Mariana Lucon.
According to Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo, the 51-year-old Brazilian legend is now living at Real Madrid’s training ground in Valdebebas as the legal tussle over his €160m (£133m) fortune heats up.
Carlos, who married Lucon in 2009, shares two daughters, Manuela and Mariana, with her.
However, their marital breakdown has reportedly left Lucon in possession of their primary home while Carlos’ in-laws occupy his secondary property.
This unusual arrangement has forced the former footballer to sleep at Madrid's facilities, where he continues his ambassadorial duties for the club.
Roberto Carlos fortune and complex family ties
Carlos' €160m fortune, amassed through his illustrious career and post-retirement endeavours, is at the centre of the divorce proceedings.
Known for his 11-year tenure at Real Madrid from 1996 to 2007, the iconic full-back won three Champions League titles and four La Liga trophies.
However, his personal life has often attracted as much attention as his footballing achievements.
Carlos previously shocked fans by revealing that he has 11 children by seven different women.
In a now-famous interview, he said, "I have seven in Brazil, one in Mexico, one in Hungary who lives in Alicante, and the others are in Brazil."
Three of his children were born to his first wife, Alexandra Pinheiro.
Despite the sprawling nature of his family tree, Carlos has maintained relationships with many of his children.
