Serena Williams is brushing off the recent Super Bowl controversy in style.

Just days after her cameo at the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show—headlined by Kendrick Lamar—sparked debate, the tennis legend was spotted pitchtside, supporting Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami CF at their season opener.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion made a striking appearance at Chase Stadium, soaking in the electric atmosphere as Inter Miami kicked off their 2025 MLS campaign against New York City FC.

But she wasn’t the only A-lister in attendance—Hollywood star Eva Longoria also graced the event, adding an extra touch of glamour to the star-studded night.

Longoria has been an investor in Mexico’s Club Necaxa, while Williams has played a key role in the rise of Angel City FC, an NWSL team backed by an impressive roster of female entrepreneurs and celebrities.

Inter Miami’s highly anticipated season opener didn’t disappoint, ending in a dramatic 2-2 draw against New York City FC

Javier Mascherano’s side, who dominated last season before crashing out in the first round of the playoffs, had to battle adversity after Argentine defender Tomás Avilés saw red, leaving Miami with 10 men for most of the match.

Despite the setback, Lionel Messi once again proved why he’s the heart of the team, delivering two crucial assists—including the last-gasp equaliser deep into stoppage time.

With a crucial CONCACAF Champions Cup clash against Sporting KC on the horizon, Miami will be hoping their talisman has more tricks under his sleeve.
