Mac Allister has been sued by his ex after breaking up with her to date her friend.
Liverpool and Argentina midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, 25, is facing legal action from his ex-girlfriend, Camila Mayan, two years after their relationship ended under controversial circumstances.
Mayan, a model and social media influencer with over 741,000 Instagram followers is demanding financial compensation for the years she spent abroad with the World Cup winner.
According to Mayan, the five-year relationship came to an abrupt end when Mac Allister allegedly left her for her friend and current partner, Ailén Cova.
Mayan claims Mac Allister has kept some of her belongings and has accused him of being unfaithful.
Despite the allegations, Mac Allister insists the break-up was mutual.
“There was no more relationship. She took her path, I took mine, and that’s it,” he explained as per The Mirror, speaking to reporters from his car before Argentina's match against Paraguay on Friday, November 15.
Addressing the lawsuit, the 2022 World Cup winner said:
“As for the other thing, everything is in court, where it should be, and we are waiting. At the time we discussed what we needed to discuss, but it was clearly her decision. Everything is fine, and she is within her rights.”
Mayan and Mac Allister’s family speak out amid legal battle
Mayan’s lawyer, Ignacio Trimarco, insists his client never intended to publicise their split and blamed Mac Allister’s side for the media attention.
Meanwhile, Mac Allister’s mother, Silvina Riela, expressed confidence in the legal process.
“We are calm because we always deal with the truth and believe in justice,” she said as per the aforementioned outlet.
While Mac Allister has enjoyed a strong start to his Liverpool career, his personal life continues to grab headlines, with fans and critics alike waiting to see how the legal battle unfolds.
For now, the Albiceleste star maintains he’s “very calm” and focused on building his life with his new girlfriend in England.
