Sean Strickland says Nigerian Stylebender Israel Adesanya is not that good after loss to South Africa's Dricus Du Plessis.

In September of last year, Sean Strickland unexpectedly won the middleweight title at UFC 293 by unanimous decision, outlasting Nigerian mixed martial artist Israel Adesanya in the process.

Strickland defeated "The Last Stylebender" in January, but Du Plessis won the championship in a split decision.

In the fourth round of the back-and-forth main event on Saturday in Perth, Australia, Du Plessis successfully defended the title against Adesanya for the first time by applying a rear-naked choke.

After losing three of his last four games, Adesanya is now in uncharted territory, and Strickland claims he was never convinced about The Stylebender.

Sean Strickland says Adesanya is not talented

After Anderson Silva, many people rank Adesanya as the second-greatest middleweight in UFC history.

The New Zealander, who was born in Nigeria, successfully defended the championship five times over the course of two reigns, defeating opponents like Yoel Romero, Robert Whittaker, Alex Pereira, and Paulo Costa.

Sean Strickland has come to the conclusion that Israel Adesanya was never as talented as it seemed after Dricus Du Plessis defeated Adesanya via submission at UFC 305.

Strickland, nevertheless, feels that Adesanya's 2019 competitive bout with Kelvin Gastelum proves the 35-year-old was never really terrific.

Speaking on the Verse Us with Eric Nicksick podcast he said, "I just don't think Izzy's that good," Strickland said earlier this week .

"When he fought Kelvin, I think Kelvin sucks. Everyone's like, 'Oh man, Izzy's this and that.' I've sparred Kelvin so many times, where I'm like, you kind of had a close fight with Kelvin.

"You're not that f-----g good. You fought Costa. Costa was scared shitless of you. You f-----g blew on him, and he fell asleep. Izzy's just not that f-----g good."

"When I say you're not that good, I'm not talking about 90% of the roster. I'm talking about the 10% of the f-----g most elite guys. That's what I'm talking about. And you're not in that."

After losing by a tight decision to Du Plessis, Strickland defeated Costa at UFC 302 to bounce back from the loss and He now hopes to face the South African again in the future.
