New Zealand professional mixed martial artist of Nigerian descent Israel Mobolaji Adesanya has reclaimed the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight title.
Adesanya defeated Brazilian professional mixed martial artist Alexsandro Pereira in the UFC 287 main event that took place in the early hours of Sunday, April 9, 2023.
It was revenge for Adesanya after losing his title to Pereira headlining UFC 281 at Madison Square Garden in New York last November
Several top Nigerian Politicians praised Adesanya for making the country proud on the international stage.

Nigerian accountant and politician Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a congratulatory message on social media.
Tinubu a former Lagos State governor has praised Adesanya for his victory against Pereira.
A message on his official social media handle about the victory said, "Congratulations to Isreal Adesanya
@stylebender on reclaiming the UFC Middleweight Title.
