Following criticism by UFC Dana White, Francis Ngannou explains why he joined PFL.
Cameroonian-French mixed martial artist Francis Ngannou evidently got a clear message from Dana White since he disagrees with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) president's most recent statements on his leaving for the Professional Fighters League (PFL).
After months of market research and free agency, White responded in-depth to Ngannou's new deal at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas following Saturday's UFC Fight Night 224.
White made a number of concerns regarding different aspects of Ngannou's agreement, boxing aspirations, and PFL's commercial decisions.
On Sunday, Ngannou disagreed with White's remarks in a series of messages on Twitter.
Francis Ngannou responds to Dana White
"What is your problem with me?
"1. I completed my contract, was a free agent, and chose to walk away. you didn’t release me
"2. I hate taking risks? that’s why I defended my title to fulfill my contract with no acl or mcl?
"3. The reason I fought three times in three years is because you wanted to control my deal and signs a new one.
And freeze me out. I owe these guys three fights a year.
"Isn’t that what you say? What happened? I always asked for & never said no to any fight in the 3 years·
"I’m finally getting paid and respected, and have a deal that’s fair and equal for all parties. Why are you so against me being free and happy?"
Ngannou first objected to White's use of the phrase promotion released him. According to Ngannou, his contract expired, and he made the decision to become a free agent without requesting permission.

The predator denied White's charge that he is unwilling to take opportunities.
Ngannou claimed that he successfully defended his championship against Ciryl Gane in January 2022, despite having numerous ruptured ligaments in his knee.
The final post in Ngannou's string of tweets featured a clip of White from UFC 260 in March 2021.
White threw doubt on Jones' interest in fighting Ngannou in the footage, which was released only seconds after Ngannou defeated Stipe Miocic to win the heavyweight championship.
Ngannou, who is 36, hasn't participated in a fight since January 2022 but wants to take on Anthony Joshua in a boxing bout later this year.
