Busayo Idowu won the gold medal in the 52.2kg category for Nigeria at the 13th African Games in Ghana.
Idowu Bukayo Khadija is a force to be reckoned with in the world of combat sports excelling in Mixed Martial Arts, (MMA), Kickboxing, and Boxing.
The Ogun state-born is also a skilled fashion designer with several laurels for the country.

Who is Idowu Bukayo?
Busayo Idowu won the gold medal in the 52.2kg category for Nigeria at the 13th African Games in Ghana.
She is from Ogun state and began her journey in combat sports in boxing, while she was in Secondary school. She has won several medals in the game including Gold medals at the National Sports Festival for Edo state.
She trained at the Police College where she combined her Combat sports activities with her Fashion designing business.

Nigeria’s medalist at the just concluded African Games, Idowu Busayo has revealed that her target is to continue to remain champion.
The Marital Art fighter confirmed to Pulse Sports that she wants to be the best female boxer in the country.
According to her, “It is not easy but since it is what I want I will surely get the results no matter what it brings I will have to go for it. They say champion is not forever but my champion is going to be forever.
“My father encouraged me to do Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). When I was little, my father always watched WWE. That was how I picked interest in combat sports.

The championship at the Abuja Continental Hotel saw aspiring MMA fighters from Nigeria's Northwest and central regions vying for a chance to compete in the grand finale.
"When I started boxing, I had support from my Daddy but along the line, he asked me to stop. I have had a passion for it which I can’t stop anymore."
'I want to be the best female boxer in Nigeria'
Idowu, who started as a boxer says she wants to become the best Boxer in the country.
"I want to be the best female boxer in Nigeria," she said.
"I am still fighting Amateur for now but I want to be a professional boxer," she said on her mission to grow more in the game.
On her reactions after winning medals, she described the experience as winning is ultimately the goal, with a lot of process of training, strategizing, and overcoming challenges.
She said, "I am always to win medals because it is not easy, many compete but for me to win medals shows results, we go through different processes before actualizing winning.
"If I am going to the ring, I always believe that we are the same because we trained same way and sometimes my training might be better than my opponent."

The sport of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) has received a major boost in Africa with official recognition by the Association of African Sports Confederations (AASC).
The recognition strengthens the position of GAMMA, the governing body for amateur MMA, which boasts 24 active member federations across the continent.
GAMMA's vision extends beyond continental recognition. They aspire to see MMA become a fully-fledged Olympic sport, officially listed in the Olympic Games.
