PFL Africa has revealed the launch date for its innovative MMA format and promised a vibrant future for the sport across the continent.
The Professional Fighters League, PFL, has officially revealed the launch date for its highly anticipated expansion into the African market, PFL Africa.
Addressing a packed press conference at the Civic Centre in Lagos, Nigeria, PFL Africa CEO Peter Murray laid out the league's ambitious plans for the continent.

"This is the beginning of a long-lasting entity that will provide opportunities for generations of African athletes to compete and thrive as professional fighters," Murray declared.
“We are targeting April 2025, second quarter next year as the launch of PFL Africa, we would have four weight classes, some representative here on the stage, eighty fighters per weight class, we will start with 32 fighters and they will compete in the regular season, playoff and championship and they earn their way through.

Murray emphasised that PFL Africa will be a truly homegrown operation, led by African management and operators.
PFL Africa is a true African company that we are launching and partnering with others to create," he said.
We will be showcasing the very best talent from across the continent, as well as developing the next wave of African MMA stars."
The PFL boss revealed that the league's inaugural event in Africa will take place April next year, setting the stage for a landmark moment in the sport's history on the continent.
"This is just the beginning," Murray promised. "We are committed to the long-term development of MMA in Africa, from the elite level all the way down to the grassroots. The future is incredibly bright for PFL Africa and African MMA as a whole."
With the PFL's global reputation and proven track record of success, this move into the African market is set to revolutionise the sport and provide a platform for African fighters to shine on the world stage.
