PFL target African audience
Speaking at a press conference in Nigeria's Civic Centre, PFL CEO Peter Murray laid out the details of their plans for the highly anticipated launch of PFL Africa, scheduled for the second quarter of 2025.
"We are targeting April 2025 as the launch of PFL Africa," Murray revealed. "We will start with four weight classes, featuring 80 fighters per class, with 32 fighters competing in the regular season, playoffs, and championship. Over time, we'll expand the number of fighters and divisions within the league."
Murray emphasised the league's commitment to showcasing the very best African MMA talent, stating that they will be staging events across the continent, with Nigeria set to host a launch event next year.
PFL Africa will be the most visible sports property on the continent," Murray declared. "This will be accessible to over 1 billion people through linear, digital, and mobile platforms, ensuring these great African athletes and their fights receive the global exposure they deserve."
The PFL, known for its innovative season-format, will bring its proven model to the African market, allowing fighters to earn their way through the regular season, playoffs, and championship.
This ambitious move by the PFL is set to shake up the African MMA landscape, as the world's fastest-growing sports league looks to cement its position as a global powerhouse.
