Scotland-based She Cranes shooter Stella Oyella has suffered a bad knee injury, her club Strathclyde Sirens has announced.
According to Strathclyde Sirens, Oyella has been ruled out for the rest of the season after she ruptured her knee while playing against Celtic Dragons.
"We are sad to announce that Stella Oyella has been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to ACL rupture," the club said.
The Scottish Sirens have since elevated Cerys Cairns to the squad as they maintained that the medical team is assessing Oyella.
The development comes at a time when the national team has announced preparations for the 2023 Netball World Cup scheduled for July-August Cape Town, South Africa.
Oyella is among the professional players summoned for the World Cup.
She joined the much-coveted Vitality Netball Super League in October last year, becoming the third Ugandan in the league alongside Peace Proscovia and Mary Nuba.
Oyella was among the star players in the recently concluded Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham, where Uganda finished fifth after edging out South Africa in a classification game.
It waits to be seen whether she will be fit for the World Cup.
