Jimmy Garoppolo has agreed a three year deal to move to the Las Vegas Raiders after leaving the San Francisco 49ers as a free agent.
Jimmy Garoppolo, the former Patriots' and 49ers' backup Quarterback has agreed to join the Las Vegas Raiders. The deal is reportedly worth $67.5 million for three years, including $34 million guaranteed.
Jimmy Garoppolo agrees to join the Raiders
Garoppolo joined the San Francisco 49ers in 2017, after being traded away by the Patriots.
He helped the 49ers reach a Super Bowl but struggled with injuries and inconsistent performances.
The 49ers drafted Trey Lance last summer but he suffered an injury which opened up an opportunity for Garoppolo.
However, Garoppolo picked up a shoulder injury not long after and lost his chance to really make a mark as Brock Purdy took over as starting quarterback. After that episode, it became apparent his time in San Francisco was coming to an end.
The Raiders wasted no time in making their move as soon as free agency began, Reuniting Garoppolo with Josh McDaniels who was defensive coordinator during his time with the Patriots.
The Raiders will be eager to find out if the 32-year-old Garoppolo is an upgrade after making the decision to move on from Derek Carr last season.
