Jannik Sinner made lightwork of Emil Ruusuvouri in their Miami quarterfinal match to reach his second Sunshine Double semifinal in a year.
Jannik Sinner had an easy win in his quarterfinal match, defeating Emil Ruusuvouri 6-3, 6-1 to reach back-to-back Miami semifinals.
The young Italian's magnificent backhand sealed the win in the first set, and after a lengthy rain delay that stopped play with Sinner leading 2-0 in the second set. The match resumed and a series of brilliant plays ensured he soared to the last four.
Sinner is the male player with the fewest games dropped (23 so far) en route to the semifinals at the Miami Open since Rafael Nadal (21) and Novak Djokovic (also 23) in 2014.
He is also the seventh male player to reach the semifinals in Indian Wells and Miami in a single year before turning 22 after Agassi (1990), Courier (1991), Djokovic (2007), Andy Murray (2007 and 2009), Nadal (2008) and Carlos Alcaraz (2022).
