Nothing less than 87 athletes from 12 sports have been confirmed to represent Nigeria in the Paris Olympics.

The Ministry of Sports has confirmed the participation of 87 athletes across 12 sports to represent Nigeria at the Paris Olympics.

Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh highlighted the government's unwavering commitment, stating that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration approved the entirety of the Olympic budget.

Team Nigeria Breakdown

Athletics: The largest contingent with 35 athletes will be vying for glory in track and field events.

Women's Football (Super Falcons): Nigeria's powerful women's football team, the Super Falcons will be parading 18 players.

Women's Basketball (D'Tigress): The reigning Afrobasket champions, the D'Tigress basketball team, will also be represented by 12 athletes.

Other Sports: Wrestling (6 athletes), Table Tennis (4 athletes), Boxing (3 athletes), Canoeing (2 athletes), Weightlifting (2 athletes), Aquatics (2 athletes), and Cycling (1 athlete) will all have Nigerian representatives striving for podium finishes.

Paralympic Aspirations

Nigeria's Paralympic history is commendable, boasting a total of 80 medals (40 gold, 19 silver, and 21 bronze). With a strong presence in 4 Paralympic sports, the nation is determined to add to its impressive medal haul in Paris.
