The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the African Games has announced the postponement of the 2023 African Games to 2024.

Announcing the postponement at the Accra Sports Stadium, the chairman of the LOC, Kwaku Ofosu-Asare, said the games will still be called ‘Accra 2023," as initially planned.
He said, “The name will be the same. Tokyo 2020 was done in 2021 so we will maintain the name. There has not been any definite day but very soon you will know if it’s 2024.”
Egypt wins 12th edition in Rabat
Egypt emerged as the overall winner of the 12th edition of the Games in Rabat, Morocco.
The sports fiesta was held from August 19-31 and featured 4,386 athletes from 53 countries and 340 events across 26 sports.
With a total of 273 medals, 102 gold, 98 silver, and 73 bronze, Egypt maintained its dominance in the competition.
Nigeria was in second place with 127 medals (46 gold, 33 silver, and 48 bronze), followed by South Africa, which came third with 87 medals.
Algeria came in fourth with 125 medals (33 gold). The host country, Morocco, finished fifth with 109 medals (31 gold), and Tunisia was sixth with 97 medals (26 gold).
