Leading the charge was Charity Jatau, who won Nigeria's only gold medal at the competition, coming in the women's 59kg category.

Jatau, an African Games champion, displayed her dominance, defeating Egypt's Ragar Alaa 5-2 in the final to mark Nigeria's first gold medal at the continental championships.

Fatima Ogbonyomi also reached the finals in the women's 65kg division but fell short of gold, claiming a silver medal after a 3-0 defeat to Morocco's Wissal.

James Chegwam, the sole male athlete on the team, mirrored his African Games performance by securing a silver medal in the men's 58kg category.

Meanwhile, Chegwam defeated opponents from Togo and DR Congo but bowed out to his Moroccan counterpart in the final.
