The handball teams will depart the country on Sunday for Sweden in order to compete in the 2023 Partille Cup, a significant competition they aspire to win.

The outgoing Kwara State Commissioner of Police, AIG Paul Odama has tipped Cherubim and Seraphim First Pishon Handball Academy of Kwara to be world beaters in Sweden.

He made this comment while being hosted to a novelty match as part of the send-off package the teams organized in his honor after he was promoted to Assistant Inspector General of Police. The tournament was held at the handball court of the Kwara State Stadium.

Team Bolakale Magaji was trounced by Team Paul Odama with 11 to 10 goals in the outdoor handball court of the Kwara State Stadium.

One of the squad's few supporters, AIG Odama, a former member of the national handball team, has purchased their uniforms and other training gear.

He said, "With what I have seen of these teams, I can assure you that these boys and girls are world-beaters. Handball, over the years, has changed. In our days, it used to be about brute force.

"These days it is more of technicalities and sleekness which I see in these players," Odama remarked.

The handball competition in Sweden is an annual championship which the teams' pundits say will give needed exposure to the young players.

C&S First Pishon won the 2022 National U-12 and U-15 Handball championship in Sokoto state under coach Emeka Joseph Nnamani, Chief Coach, the National U-18 handball team, and a sergeant with the Nigerian Army.

Also speaking on the team and AIG Odama, Moni Makanjuola, board member, Kwara State Sports Commission, KSC, and member of Handball Association Kwara, appreciated the officer and said that without his assistance, the team wouldn't have accomplished as much.

"We are immensely grateful to you because we wouldn't have achieved this much if you were not part of our story," she said.
