Rafael Nadal has congratulated Novak Djokovic on his amazing feat in Melbourne.
Rafael Nadal has congratulated Novak Djokovic on winning the 2023 Australian Open title for a record tenth time.
Djokovic defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3 7-6(4) 7-6(5) to match Nadal's record of 22 Grand Slam titles and reclaim the world No. 1 spot.
The Serb was never in doubt right from the beginning of the tournament, being the favourite on pundit's lips and fans. The only issue many thought could have stopped his ambition was his hamstring problems, but since he overcame it in the round of 16, he was ruthless with his opponents to the final.
His victory against Tsitsipas was his 28th consecutive win at the Australian Open, 41st consecutive win in Australia, and 12th in 2023.
Nadal was the defending champion but got knocked out in the second round after sustaining an injury. However, the Spanish tennis legend has taken out time to acknowledge Djokovic on his Instagram platform, congratulating him on his amazing feat.
"Congrats Nole, to you and your team for this great achievement. Enjoy this moment!."
He also shared on his Instastory with the caption "Amazing achievement Nole @djokernole. Many congrats to you and your team! Well deserved. Enjoy Nole!."
The top three men's singles' most Grand Slam titles are Nadal (22), Djokovic (22), and Roger Federer (20).
Tennis fans can anticipate a more competitive rivalry between both players as they gun for more Slam titles and bragging rights of being the greatest tennis player of all time.
