Okutoyi is the only Kenyan in the event after Alicia Owegi was knocked out in the preliminaries after losing 0-2 to Maria Eleni Poulka of Greece.
The 19-year-old noted that qualifying for the Olympic Games will be a life-changing moment for her since it will also help achieve her dream of being an Olympian and placing Kenya on the world map.
“Olympic Games mean everything to me because since I was young, I used to hear people speak highly of the event and how it has changed people’s lives and changed the trajectory of their careers.
"Qualifying for the Olympics will be a dream come true for me…this will help me achieve my dreams in tennis and place Kenya on the global map.
"This will also make me the first Kenyan tennis player to be an Olympian,” the 19-year-old said.
