Ayo Dosunmu, an American professional basketball player of Nigerian heritage, has earned a significant role over the past two seasons and is returning to the Chicago Bulls under a new contract.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, who spoke with Dosunmu's agent, the guard, and the Bulls have reached an agreement on a three-year, $21 million contract.

Dosunmu, a restricted free agent who was selected in the second round of the 2021 NBA draft, entered the free agent market this offseason. 

In light of Lonzo Ball's persistent struggles with his knee injury recovery, Dosunmu has been an important player for Bulls head coach Billy Donovan.

For three months after Dosunmu entered the starting lineup in the middle of his rookie season, he played well.

In 41 games from January 15 to April 10, he scored 11.0 points on 52.1 percent shooting and 5.2 assists per contest.

The 23-year-old was designated as a starter for the 2022–23 season by the Chicago Bulls head coach after evaluating him favorably. 

Despite moving to the bench following the February acquisition of Patrick Beverley, he ended up starting 11 more games last season than he did as a rookie.
