Champions Kenya Pipeline are keen to make a mark as the second leg of the Kenya Volleyball Federation national women’s league serves off on March 18 at the Nyayo National Stadium.
In a post on their Facebook page, the oilers are bullish ahead of a face-off against Nairobi Water in their opening match and Kenya Army in their final match as indicated on the fixtures.
“Thirsty for some Nairobi Water under tight security from Kenya Army this weekend,” the post read.
The Oilers are keen to intensify their preparations as they prepare for the matches over the weekend.
Coach Paul Gitau, as part of his training techniques, ensured the ladies played two build-up matches against the Directorate of Criminal Investigations at their training base in Embakasi. The veteran tactician fielded two different teams with DCI winning the first game 3-1 as Pipeline won the sec0nd one 3-0.
In the first leg, The Oilers were off to a good start as they thrashed Nairobi Prisons in straight sets and maintained the hot streak to defeat the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) 3-1.
Nairobi Water on their part, did not have a great outing in the first leg after disappointing shows that saw them lose in straight sets to DCI and Kenya Prisons. They will be keen to turn tables this time round as they face the Oilers and newbies Post Bank on the second day.
Meanwhile, Kenya Army will be keen to prove a point as they face DCI in their opening match and clash with the Oilers. This will be their first match in the league after missing out on the first leg’s action.
