Cricket Kenya Under-19 men’s national team captain Vishil Patel has noted that the team is bullish ahead of the International Cricket Council U19 men’s World Cup Africa Division 1 qualifier scheduled for July 23 to 29 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Patel revealed that they have been undergoing training under the tutelage of head coach Josphat Irungu and currently, things are looking up for the young squad.

Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Nigeria, and Botswana have confirmed their participation.
The juniors will be up against Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Uganda Namibia, and the hosts and Patel believes the team has all it takes to upset their opponents.
“The preparations are good…we undergo training for almost all the weekdays and over the weekend we engage in match simulation under the head coach.
The players are definitely motivated because we all want to qualify for the world cup because it’s one of the biggest stages that an athlete would want to compete in,” he said.
He added that the players are highly motivated to do well since their performance at the event will also be factored in as they seek to get a promotion to the national team.
Patel is also sure that the young squad will make it to the World Cup owing to the quality of players in the team.
“Yes, definitely we have a chance to make it to the World Cup. We are training in a very conducive environment and we have very talented players and we shall tackle our opponents well,” he said.
Patel also urged fans to support the young squad as they prepare for the tournament. “I just encourage everyone to support us and we shall hopefully do well,” he said.
