The Delta State Government and the Federal Government signed an MOU for the hosting of the Youth Games.
Delta State will host the National Youth Games (NYG) for four years between 2023 and 2026.
The Delta State Government and the Federal Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the hosting of the Youth Games.
The Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Sunday Dare, while signing the MoU at the Government House, Asaba, stated that one of the abiding legacies of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration is the decision to give Delta State the hosting rights for the ensuing four years.

He said, "With the MoU signed today, the Ministry has secured the organization of the youth fiesta for the next 4 years.
"Signing the document by both parties is a critical step that would signpost the commencement of activities for the successful organization of the first in the series of the Games in September 2023."

Why we are hosting for Four Years
The Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, stated that Delta State supports youth sports development from the ground up, and the Delta State Government decided to sign the MoU with the Federal Government.
He assured the Delta State Government that it would make sure the Games were successfully organized and hosted, just like other sporting events it had been fortunate enough to host in the past.

National Youth Games Host city and dates announced for 7th NYG
The Federal Ministry for Youths and Sports Development has released kick off dates for the annual National Youth Games.
He said, "Delta State has been a leading champion in almost all the sporting competitions, we need states to challenge us, let them get prepared early enough to compete at least for a second position because Delta will never maintain its lead."

The National Youth Games are the brainchild of the Goodluck Jonathan administration. It is a multi-sporting event organized by the Federal Government of Nigeria through the National Sports Commission for athletes from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria.
