Former tennis star is set to feed over 1000 Para athletes ahead of Easter in Lagos.

Ex-international tennis star Destiny Ford Da-Silva has concluded plans to feed over one thousand families this Easter.

Da-Silva, a Rotarian and member of the Rotary Club of Falomo, has been actively involved in charity work since retiring from competitive tennis through his foundation.

He has been helping underprivileged athletes within the tennis section of the national stadium with the support from his mentor, but the founder believes that extending it to others outside the sports arena will go a long way to cushioning the economic hardship in the society.

What Da-Silva said

The former Tennis star has decided to extend this benevolence to underprivileged athletes and their families during the Easter period.

According to him, "I was planning to do for only 300 physically-challenged and underprivileged athletes before, but I just thought it would be nice to go even further, hence the change.

"This is something I believe God commissioned me to do and it gives me immense joy to see people go home happy because of my obedience to such instructions.

"We all know that we are in a really challenging period in our country right now, so, it is not out of place to put smiles on people's faces from the little that God has given us.

"Whether we do it or not, these people will feed and live their lives, but we will be more than grateful to be part of their lives and be the reason they don't go to bed on empty stomach".

"The date we are proposing for this event is Friday, April 18th - on Good Friday, inside the tennis section of the National Stadium. We will be starting from the morning for this programme and there are no restrictions whatsoever.

"It is our desire to help those who are in need and make them happy," he told our correspondent during a recent chat.
