Jayson Tatum leads the Boston Celtics with 34 points as they defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 111-105 in an NBA Eastern Conference matchup.

In yet another crucial performance, Tatum contributed 10 rebounds and five assists, while Sam Hauser contributed 16 points off the bench and Jrue Holiday scored 20 points.

The victory puts the reigning NBA champions in second position in the Eastern Conference, behind the 20-3 Cleveland Cavaliers, who set the early-season NBA record. They are now 19-4 overall.

With 14 lead changes and neither team gaining more than eight points, it was a fiercely contested match that was certain to be included in the playoffs.

Al Horford's three-pointer put the Celtics ahead 105-101 late in the game, but Holiday's 14-foot floater on a Tatum pass gave them a five-point advantage with 25.1 seconds remaining.

With 30 points from Damian Lillard and another 30 from Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Bucks defeated Milwaukee 11–11.

Damian Lillard scored 20 points in the first half, and Antetokounmpo celebrated his 30th birthday.

As long as the Boston Celtics' title pair was having a great game, those things didn't matter.

After missing the team's first 21 games due to recovery from off-season surgery on both of his ankles, Middleton scored 11 points in his first game back.

Boston hosts the resurgent Memphis Grizzlies, while Milwaukee next travels to the Brooklyn Nets.
