The women's Handball club Plateau Peacocks will participate in the Africa Club Handball Championship in Layoun, Morocco.
The president of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) Mr. Samuel Ocheho has charged the players and officials of top tier women's handball club Plateau Peacocks to make Nigeria proud as they participate in the Africa Club Handball Championship in Layoun, Morocco.
Plateau Peacocks, who finished third in the Ardova Handball Premier League 2023 women's category will be participating in the club championship in group C alongside Petro Atletico of Angola, Andre Nziko of Cameroon, and US Nousasser of Morocco.
Coach Yusuf Abdukadir's led team are already in Casablanca en route to Laayoun wherein they will play their first match against Petro Atletico of Angola on Friday evening and Mr. Ocheho believes the technical acumen of the coaching crew will aid them to do well at the championship.
"I am quite excited as Plateau Peacocks participate in the Africa Club Handball Championship in Morocco and it is a joy for the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) that a top club in the Ardova Handball Premier League will represent Nigeria in the championship.
"I do not have any doubt about the tactical acumen of the coaching crew led by Coach Yusuf Abdukadir as they have shown times without numbers that they are up to the task and I believe they will be a good ambassador of the country in the championship".
"I only urge them to be of good conduct and make Nigeria proud on and off the court and they can count on the support of the Nigeria handball family to succeed" Ocheho concluded.
Meanwhile, Coach Yusuf Abdukadir who spoke to HFM Media from Casablanca said they have the support of the Plateau State government led by Governor Caleb Mutfwang and the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) to do well and they will ensure they repay the gestures by being a good representative of the country.
