Fencer Alexandra Ndolo has described the sacrifices her mother had to make to ensure she made history by qualifying for the Olympics after inadequate support from Kenyan federation.
“It is so great when I travel and see Kenya,” Ndolo told NTV. “The funny thing is that I got this bracelet a little over a year ago from my good friend Ferdi Omanyala and I did not understand what this bracelet means that all over the world. People are like; ‘Oh my God, you too, I’m Kenyan, you’re Kenyan and when I travel I see Kenyans.”
“When I’m in Germany or diaspora, I see the kind of joy it gives Kenyans and I’m representing them and they know here is the new champion that is doing it for us.
“I am doing it with my country on my back, not just my last name or my father’s name. I also like to see how I can connect the diaspora and Kenya when I’m back home.
