This year’s edition has attracted teams from Canada, Europe, and the USA who will battle it out with the hosts, the Ice Lions.

Kenya Ice Hockey is set to host the second edition of the Madaraka Cup from Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th June at the Panari Hotel Ice Skating Rink, the only Ice-Skating Rink in East Africa.

This year’s edition has attracted teams from Canada, Europe, and the USA who will battle it out with the hosts, the Ice Lions.

The previous edition was held in 2019 and it saw USA take the trophy home. They will be hoping to retain the title in the three-day championship but the opposition will definitely be tough.

The Ice Lions finished second behind USA after being narrowly defeated 9-10 but they will be hoping to go one step better this time around. Canada finished third after beating Europe 13-1.

Entrance will be free to all who will be looking to go and support the Ice Lions as they seek to make a statement.

Meanwhile, the National team coach Tim Colby during a previous interview revealed that he wants the sport to grow immensely.

He disclosed that so far, they have about 50 players in the team and he is optimistic that more people will join as time goes by.

Hosting the tournament will be one way of creating awareness of the sport and he hopes that through the event, more people will want to be part of the Ice-Skating family.
