The duo is confident that their preparation has been seamless and they will be hoping to bring home decent performances.

Youngsters Abigail Chebet and Sharon Jepkosgei are set to make their maiden appearance in beach volleyball on the global stage as they departed on Tuesday night for the Commonwealth Youth Games scheduled for August 4 to 11 in Trinidad and Tobago.

The duo is confident that their preparation has been seamless and they will be hoping to bring home decent performances. Their preparations included participating in the Secondary School Games and a residential training camp in Kilifi.

The team has also been training with the senior beach volleyball side that includes Tokyo 2020 Olympian Gaudencia Makokha and has drawn a wealth of experience from such seasoned players.

The journey to Trinidad and Tobago marks a significant milestone in the sporting careers of Chebet and Jepkosgei since the global platform will provide them with an invaluable opportunity to gain international exposure and experience.

The duo expressed their excitement and determination to represent Kenya with pride on the international stage. They are eager to showcase their skills, compete against top-level athletes from around the world, and learn from the best in the sport.

Meanwhile, coach Patrick Owino also expressed his belief in the team's potential, citing the comprehensive preparations they received.

Owino emphasized that this exposure will be instrumental in their development and will also aid their transition to the senior elite level.
