Lagos to host Armwrestling National Open Championships

The National Open Championships will be used to select Nigeria's representatives at the 6th African Armwrestling Championship.

Lagos will host the 2023 edition of the Nigeria Armwrestling Open Championship, which has been scheduled to take place at the Captains Bar, Ilupeju, on June 11.

The National Open Championships will be used to select Nigeria's representatives at the sixth African Armwrestling Championship.

The sixth African Armwrestling Championship will be held in Accra, Ghana, from June 21 to 24 at the Accra Township Stadium.

The president of the Nigeria Armwrestling Federation, Samuel Jackson, said that the top winners will be selected to represent Nigeria at the African Championship, in June in Ghana.

Jackson stated that the African Championship in Accra, Ghana will serve as both the qualification event for the Armwrestling competition of the African Games in Accra, Ghana in March 2024, as well as the World Combat Games in Saudi Arabia in October 2023.

The African Armwrestling Federation stated that Nigeria must confirm participation at the African event by May 21 with a list of the names of the country's representatives and their unique international passport numbers. The invitation was sent to the Nigerian federation and signed by the AFA Secretary General, Julien Bounmsong.

Jackson, confirmed that, all the top Nigerian Armwrestlers male and female have been invited for the June 11 Open Championship in Lagos.

The African Armwrestling Championship's inaugural competition took place in Cairo, Egypt. Lagos hosted the second iteration. Accra, Ghana hosted the third edition of the Championship, while Dakar, Senegal hosted the fourth.

Nigeria won the 11th edition of the African Championship, which was held in Lagos last year. The 12th edition is scheduled to take place in Accra, Ghana from June 21 to 24, 2023.
