LOC Unveils plans to fight, doping Age cheating at National Youths Games

The Games are scheduled to take place between September 20 and 30 in Asaba, Delta State.

Ahead of the seventh edition of the National Youth Games, tagged Asaba 2023, the Main Organizing Committee and the Local Organizing Committee have reaffirmed their resolve to eliminating age cheating and doping in the annual cadet sports festival.

The Executive Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Tonobok Okowa stated this in an interview with journalists in Asaba.

Okowa who is also the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee of the Games stated that the National Youth Games were established to promote young athletes across the country in order to improve Nigeria's reputation in the global sports community.

According to the renowned sports administrator, the Local Organizing Committee has instituted processes to check mate age cheating and doping during the games, and that the modalities would be implemented during the Youth Games in Asaba.

He described age frauds at the Youth Games as individuals attempting to reverse the clock.

Okowa also cautioned coaches who use forbidden substances on their athletes to improve their performance to stop, as the organizers of the games will punish them and the sportsmen involved severely, potentially jeopardizing their sporting careers.

The Seventh National Youth Games will begin on September 20 with the arrival of various state contingents, with the opening ceremony set for September 23 at Asaba's historic Stephen Keshi International Stadium.
