Oluwademilade Akanbi secured Team Lagos first Gold medal in the 50 meters backstroke for girls with the time of 32:62 seconds and went to claimed her second gold in the 100 meters Butterfly, recording 1 minute, 19 seconds.
Team Lagos swimmers have recorded seven medals at the ongoing Natioanl Youth Games in Asaba.
Eight finals were decided on day one of competition with the state’s athletes claiming three gold, two silver and two bronze medals.

Oluwademilade Akanbi secured Team Lagos first Gold medal in the 50 meters backstroke for girls with the time of 32:62 seconds and went to claimed her second gold in the 100 meters Butterfly, recording 1 minute, 19 seconds.
The team’s other gold medal was won by Chioma Kanu who recorded 1 minute, 27 seconds in the 100 meters Breaststroke Girls ahead of Ebigide Success of Team Delta and Ebia Obaten Gift from Team Cross Rivers.
The silver medals came from Funmilayo Dimeyin in the 200 meters Individual Medley and Inioluwa Dayo-Dumoye in the 100 meters Breaststroke boys.

Oluwademilade mother, Atolani Akanbi revealed that her children success was due to the kids discipline and dedication.
Atolani added that the kids have been busy preparing for the games all through the summer.

The Youth Games are for children under the age of 15, and they will be held in Asaba, Delta State, from September 20 to 30.
"The children are very discipline, determined and focus that is why they are winning medals. They started training since four years and they train four times daily.
"I feel excellent that my children won gold medals and i am very proud of them beacuse they are bsy training all through the summer."
