Nothing less than 180 athletes are expected to take part in the championship that will take place at Hammadi Ben Ammar Hall in La Goulette, Tunisia.

The list of participating countries includes the host country, Tunisia, Nigeria, Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Libya, Mauritania, Sudan, Uganda, and Mauritius.
Others are; South Africa, Sierra Leone, Seychelles, Zambia, Cameroon, Botswana, Kenya, Lesotho, DR Congo, Ghana, ,Madagascar, and Azerbaijan.
Why Azerbaijan will participate at African Weightlifting Championship
The Azerbaijan nationwide weightlifting staff will participate in the African Championship, the Azerbaijan Weightlifting Federation confirmed.
Azerbaijani staff members Nazil Ismailova (45 kg), Isa Rustamov (67 kg) and Omar Javadov (73 kg) will participate in Tunisia.
The African Championship is a substitute for missing out on the European Championship held in Yerevan due to the provocation of the Armenians.
