Nigerian duo Onaopemipo Adegoke and Babatunde Ajagbe have qualified for the round of 16 at the ongoing Goodfellow Classic 2024 in Toronto, Canada.

Ajagbe is seeded for the tourney alongside Curtis Malik (England), Ziad Ibrahim (Egypt), Laszlo Godde (France), Perry Mailk (England), Mazen Gamal (Egypt), Laouenan Loaec (France) and Martin Svec (Czech).
Adegoke bounced back from an opening defeat to beat Canada’s Abbas Nawaz 3-1 (6-11, 11-5, 13-11, 12-10) in 49 minutes in his first game, while Ajagbe outclassed another Canadian, Jayden Shortt 3-1 (7-11, 11-7, 11-6, 11-7) in less than 30 minutes.
Adegoke will face Alejandro Reyes from Mexico in the round of 16 on Thursday (today) just as Ajagbe competes against Elliott Morris from Wales in the last 16.
Adegoke is confident that the focus is to win the title.

After five years, the Lagos Squash Classics kicked off in Lagos, with 19 Nigerian players and players from other countries competing at Teslim Balogun Stadium.
“It’s my dream to win the Goodfellow Classic to boost my rankings because it will boost my ranking.
“I remain focused because there are lots of tough opponents here, like Ajagbe and Abdelrahman Abdelkhalek from Egypt,” he told Punch Sports.
