Nigeria's Patience Igbiti receives a Paralympic Award as Shaibu rejoices

The Paralympic Committee (IPC) presented Patience Igbiti with the 2023 International Women's Day Award alongside Vladyslava Kravchenko from Malta (Emerging Leadership), the Malawi National Paralympic Committee (National Paralympic Committee), and World Para Ice Hockey (International Federation) for their outstanding stands and causes.

The newly named "Award of Leadership" recipient from the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) for the 2023 International Women's Day Recognition Awards, Patience Igbiti, has received high accolades from Edo State Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu.

The Paralympic Committee (IPC) presented Patience Igbiti with the 2023 International Women's Day Award alongside Vladyslava Kravchenko from Malta (Emerging Leadership), the Malawi National Paralympic Committee (National Paralympic Committee), and World Para Ice Hockey (International Federation) for their outstanding stands and causes.

Nigeria's Patience Igbiti receives a Paralympic Award

The Awards, which the IPC has been running since 2013, primarily recognise women in the Paralympic Movement who inspire and emulate the Paralympic ideals and serve as positive role models were chosen by members of the IPC Governing Board following nominations from across the Paralympic membership.

The Para-Powerlifting squad of Edo's Chief Coach, Patience, received recognition for her steadfast and dependable leadership throughout the years.

The reason for Patience's award is also due to the fact that she has fought for women's inclusion in the Para-Powerlifting sport in Africa and internationally for more than thirty years. She is a strong advocate for gender parity and has made numerous contributions to boost female representation in the sport.

Patience Setting the Pace - Shaibu

Shaibu commented on the accomplishment during his 2023 first quarter evaluation, saying that Pat had accomplished a tremendous amount and that all Nigerians should be proud of her achievement.

Shaibu claims that Patience has exhibited the proper spirit demanded of every son and daughter of Edo in striving for the best and establishing an example for other states throughout the nation to emulate.

“This is a development that gladdens my heart as a sports personality and as your state’s Deputy Governor.

Coach Pat, who began her career in 1990, broke six world records, won multiple Paralympic medals, and became Nigeria's first female para-powerlifting champion.
