Over 100 Athletes set IGP Taekwondo Championship

The Championship is scheduled to take place at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State

The 10th Inspector General of Police (IGP) Taekwondo Championship is scheduled to take place at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, and more than 100 Athletes from all around Nigeria and several neighboring nations are anticipated to compete.

The tournament, which will run from August 2 to 4, was described by the Association as a way to find more stars. The combat sport is divided into some divisions and age ranges.

The chairperson of the Nigeria Police Taekwondo Association (NIPOTA), CSP Stella Ebikefe, predicted that this year's tournament would be more entertaining due to the increased interest from clubs and athletes.

She stated that individuals with capabilities found during the competition will receive training and exposure to domestic and worldwide tournaments in order to advance their abilities.

She said, “All Police zones from zone 1 to zone 16, 36 states clubs, neighboring countries like Benin and Niger, and children from five years up and Para athletes will take part in the championship.

“The tournament is aimed at improving the standard of taekwondo in Nigeria and also discovering talents from various age grades."

Recall that the Police Headquarters, Abuja, won the ninth edition of the IGP Taekwondo Championship, at the Badminton Hall of the Police College, Ikeja, Lagos, last year.
