Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee has handed over Uganda Netball Federation president Sarah Babirye Kityo and other executives to the authorities over alleged financial mismanagement.
PAC chairman Asuman Basalirwa handed over the suspended netball boss and other federation executives to the Parliament’s Criminal Investigations Department.
“I want to hand over the following people to the police; the president of Uganda Netball Federation, the vice president of Uganda Netball Federation,” Basalirwa said.
“The treasurer of Uganda Netball Federation. Please appear before the police and make statements . I will guide you on what happens after that,” he added.
The executives are Richard Muhumuza, the vice president-technical, and treasurer Hajjati Aidah Nambusi.
PAC accused the top federation bosses of alleged forgery of accounting documents, failure to provide accountability, and disputing their signatures and handwriting on official financial records.
The dispute stems from the funds the National Council of Sports released to the federation for the trip to South Africa last year.
While the NCS released Shs100m, Kityo alleges that her supervisor Bernard Ogwel was given an Shs30m kickback. Ogwel vehemently denies the accusation.
